Getting started

What is Memendo?

Memendo is an app for notes, tasks and files made by Memendo GmbH in Vienna, Austria. You write in a calm editor, plan tasks by typing things like “tomorrow at 10am”, and keep scans and PDFs right next to your notes. Memo, the built-in AI, answers questions from your own notes and shows the source. Memendo runs on iPhone, Android and in the browser, and it’s free to start.

Where can I get Memendo?

For iPhone in the App Store, for Android on Google Play, and in the browser at app.memendo.co. Your account is the same everywhere and everything stays in sync.

How do I create an account?

Open the app or app.memendo.co/register and sign up with your email address, with Google or with Apple.

Is Memendo free?

Yes. You start free, with no time limit. The free plan has limits, for example on the number of notes, folders and files and on questions to Memo. The app tells you when you reach one. Premium lifts them; see the pricing page.

Notes

How do I add headings, lists or images?

In a note, tap +. There you’ll find headings, lists, checklists, quotes, tables, images and files. With Aa you format text: bold, italic, colours and styles.

What is the daily note?

A page of its own each day for focus, thoughts and a look back. Open it from the “Daily note” card on the Today tab, or via + and “Open daily note”.

How do I find a note again?

With search. It ranks results so the right note comes first, also searches tags and archived notes, and finds “München” even when you type “Muenchen”. Thanks to text recognition it also finds text in scans and PDFs.

Can I restore an earlier version?

Yes. Memendo keeps a version history for every note, which you open from the note’s menu. Deleted notes first go to “Recently deleted”, where you can restore them.

How do I export a note?

From the note’s menu under “Export”: as a PDF (formatted, good for sharing) or as Markdown.

How do I share a note?

With Premium you invite people by email and choose whether they can only read or also write. Notes others share with you are under “Shared”.

Tasks and planning

What does the quick task understand?

Type the task the way you would say it. Memendo recognises:

  • Day and time: “tomorrow at 3pm”, “next Friday”, “in 3 days”
  • Deadlines: “until Friday”, “by tomorrow”
  • Repeats: “daily”, “every Monday”, “monthly”
  • Priority: “!high”, “!medium”, “!low” or “!1” to “!3”
  • Duration: “30 min”, “1.5h”
  • Project or note: “@” and the name, for example “@Website”

Recognised words are highlighted and dropped from the title when you save. Type inside a highlight and it turns back into plain text. German and Turkish phrases work too.

How do projects work?

Projects bundle tasks that belong together. You’ll find them on the Plan tab under “Projects”. A ring shows how much is done.

How do I use the calendar?

On the Plan tab you switch between tasks and the calendar. The calendar shows a day, a week or a month. In the week view you drag tasks to another day; tapping an empty day adds a task there.

How do I get reminders?

Open a task and tap “Reminder”. Memendo reminds you with a notification; allow notifications for Memendo in your device settings.

Files and scanner

How do I scan a document?

Tap + and choose Scanner. Photograph the pages and the scan ends up under Files.

Does search find text in scans and PDFs?

Yes. Text recognition runs right on your device and makes the text in scans and PDFs searchable.

Can I open files offline?

Yes. In a file’s actions, choose “Keep offline”. Under “Offline files” you see how much space that takes.

Memo

What can Memo do?

Memo answers questions from your notes and shows the source, creates tasks, summarises and, if you ask, works right inside a note. More on the Memo page.

How many questions can I ask Memo?

The free plan comes with a monthly allowance of questions to your notes. With Premium there is no monthly limit.

What data does Memo see?

When you use Memo, Memendo sends your question and the excerpts of your notes it needs to Google’s Gemini API. More in section 2.3 of the privacy policy.

Widgets and sharing

Which widgets are there, and how do I add one?

Memendo has three widgets: Today (the day’s tasks), Up next and Quick capture (note, task, scan or Memo in one tap).

  • iPhone: touch and hold an empty spot on the home screen, tap “Edit”, then “Add Widget”, and choose Memendo.
  • Android: touch and hold the home screen, tap “Widgets” and choose Memendo.

How do I save something from another app?

In the browser or another app, tap “Share” and choose Memendo. Links become bookmark cards. If you like, Memo files what you share straight into the right folder; you can undo or change that.

Account, security and data

Is my data safe?

Memendo runs on Google Firebase. Your data travels over TLS and is stored encrypted. We show no ads and sell no data. Details are in the privacy policy.

Does Memendo work offline?

Yes. Your notes are also kept on the device. Without a connection you keep writing, and Memendo syncs as soon as you’re back online.

Which languages is Memendo available in?

German, English and Turkish. The app follows your device language; you can change it in Settings.

How do I delete my account?
